 Jimboomba House

This month we are heading off to Jimboomba to have 12.00 o’clock lunch at the historical Jimboomba House Restaurant situated in the (now closed) Hills Golf Course and beside the Hills International College, 105 Johanna Street, Jimboomba.

This rustic building, reputed to be the second oldest house in SE Queensland dates back to 1851 when it was constructed, with hand sawn red wood planks, for Andrew Inglis Henderson who took over the sheep run and later turned it into a cattle grazing property. The area was originally spelled Gimboomba and settled in 1845 when Tomas Dowse took up the large grazing lease in the area.

The restaurant, located west of the township, just off the Mt Lindsay Highway is run by head chef Tony Gray and his wife Zsuzsanna is the restaurant manager. People with special dietary requirements will be catered for.

There is limited seating available at this restaurant, which opens at 11.30, so bookings are essential. Numbers will be capped at 50.
