Mercedes-Benz Club of Queensland |
About Us Welcome to a friendly Club where every member follows the star. Our Club was founded in 1971 by Hans Salterod and Wolf Grodd, both of whom had a great love for the preservation of classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Most members in the early days were working on their cars themselves and restoring a car, so much of the early development of the Club centred on technical advice and support. Today, members such as Wolf Grodd remain passionate about restoration of the older vehicles. Gradually, the focus has changed as many members are appreciating the comfort and convenience of the newer models. While many members still own an older model, it is often the newer one chosen for the monthly motoring runs, which the Club organises. Members visit historic houses, wineries, collections of memorabilia, and the long convoy of cars generally has at least one car of every model in the line. This is a significant element of the Queensland Club, as 'all' models are welcome. The Club is incorporated under the Department of Equity and Fair Trading of the Qld Government. |
