The Mercedes-Benz club of the ACT and the W123 Australia FaceBook group are planning a 50^th anniversary event for the W123 series. 

The W123 series was launched to the press is January 1976, this makes January 2026 the 50th anniversary. Since the launch, the W123 has become an icon in Mercedes-Benz history. Not in the same way as a Gullwing or pagoda, but as symbol of engineering excellence and rugged reliability to the point where they are still the taxi of choice in many countries. Today here in Australia there is a strong and passionate W123 community, with the W123 Australia group on Facebook having 1000+ members.
