MBCCWA 65th Anniversary Lunch at Whiteman Park Motor Museum
South West Tour
Day 1 - Monday 19 May 2025
Drive from Perth to Busselton. Visit "Gnomesville", lunch in Ferguson Valley, then to a member’s vineyard for a Show and Shine hosted by new SW Chapter,For those heading back East or others wishing to extend their tour of this small part of the vast state of WA - continue to Esperance, a beautiful coastal town on the Southern Ocean, 480 km east of Albany for 2 nights' accommodation, giving time for sightseeing.then onward to Busselton for first night's accommodation. Dinner in house with local SW MBCCWA members invited to join.
Day 2 - Tuesday 20 May 2025
Breakfast at hotel then visit Busselton Jetty for the 1.7 km each way train ride along the jetty, then a guided tour of the underwater observatory at the end of the jetty. Tickets included.
Head south through the northern part of the Margaret River wine region. Lunch along the way with a stop at Gabriel Chocolates - manufacturers from bean to bar on the premises. Drived through interesting Cowaramup (Cow Town) with it multiple, life size cow sculptures
Accommodation in Margaret River for 3 nights, with in-house private wine tasting by local boutique winery, with canapes - included on the first night.
Day 3 and 4 - Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 May 2025
Many places to visit, including wineries, breweries, distilleries, artist's studios, beaches, forests. Cape Leeuwin where the two oceans - Indian and Southern meet. Notes to help planning will be provided.
For winery tours, it is recommended that you take one of the local wine tour buses that will collect and drop off from accommodation to visit multiple wineries, and a distillery with lunch inclued. Better than drink/driving. Cost approximately $140 for 8 hours.
In house private dinner on the second night - included.
Third night dinner is your choice, in house a la carte or one of the many venues in town.
Day 5 - Friday 23 May 2025
Drive inland across some interesting country roads to South Western Highway, then south through agricultural areas and tall trees. Detour to Donnelly River Village to get up close and feed the resident emus and kangaroos.
Arrive at accommodation in Walpole - dinner and breakfast included.
Day 6 - Saturday 24 May 2025
There is an amazing eco boat tour of pristine Nornalup Inlet, alternated with Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk, before continuing to drive east through Denmark to Albany where we will spend 2 nights. Discovered an excellent lunch place to visit between activities.
Accommodation at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Day 7 - Sunday 25 May 2025
Visit National Anzac Centre overlooking Princess Royal Harbour where Australian and New Zealand soldiers last saw Australia before heading off to the Middle East and World War 1. Tickets included
Afternoon to visit attractions in the oldest settlement in WA. These include Historic Whaling Station Museum, Natural Arch and the Gap facing Southern Ocean in Torndirrup National Park.
Day 8 - Monday 26 May 2025
Visit local whisky and gin distillery for tour and tasing, which needs to be in two shifts if everyone wishes to visit, as well as any other points of interest in the oldest settlement in WA.
In house private buffet dinner included.
Day 9 - Tuesday 27 May 2025
This is the conclusion of the ticketed SW Tour.
Depart Albany to:
- Return to Perth direct via Albany Highway - approx 400 km - 4.5 hour drive. Or drive through Porongurup's for more scenic route.
- Drive north to Norseman (200km) for those wanting to drive back East on the Eyre Highway - 1,668 km to Port Augusta.
- For those wanting to see one of the richest parts of the state, drive a further two hours North to Kalgoorlie, where you can stay for a few nights and visit huge gold mines, ghost towns, a "Two Up" ring, a brothel tour and see interesting museums. Maybe even have time to visit Lake Ballard and its remote statues.
- From Kalgoorlie, either back south to Norseman and continue East or drive back to Perth - 593 km, possibly not all on the same day.
Costing
A few final costings are still to come in, but will be updated in the range of $2600 per couple (less than $165 pp per day). and $2090 for solo travellers.
This includes 8 night's accommodation, 4 dinners, 1 wine tasting with canapes, 8 breakfasts and entry fees to:
- Busselton Jetty train and underwater observatory guided tour.
- National Anzac Centre
- Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk
- WOW Eco Toure at Walpole
The latter two are optional, but are included in the above costing.
Fuel, lunches, coffee and alcohol will be at own cost.
A road book with maps, details of accommodation and attractions will be provided.

Space on this tour is limited and a deposit of $500 per couple or $300 per solo is required to secure your booking with final payment to be made by Monday 24 March 2025.
