Privacy Policy

Overview

The purpose of the Privacy Policy is to ensure that all Club Officials who are responsible for handling personal and/or health information do so in a manner that protects every individual’s right to privacy.

This Privacy Policy applies to the services offered by the Mercedes-Benz Club of Queensland Inc. (Club)

The Mercedes Benz Club of Queensland holds and uses information on members which is subject to the Commonwealth and State legislation on privacy. As a business organisation the Club must comply with the relevant laws. The following incorporates the policy and relevant procedures to meet legal compliance and act in accordance with responsible and confidential information management.

Personal Information

The Club is committed to safeguarding personal privacy. It recognises that individuals have a right to control how their personal information is collected and used.

Providing personal information is an act of trust and it is taken seriously. Unless given consent to do otherwise, the Club will only collect and use personal information as set out below.

Collecting Personal Information

The Club will not collect or monitor any personal information about an individual without their consent. The only personal information collected is what has been provided voluntarily.

Using and Disclosing your Personal Information

Personal Information will be used for the following primary purposes:

  • To render services related to Club business such as membership services or Club event services.

  • To include text and photographic material in the Club’s Super Star magazine, including event reports, new member lists, and advertising in the magazine Star Bits section.

  • To fulfill obligations under any sale and purchase contract and/or any other contract between the individual and the Club.

  • To fulfill obligations under any legal reporting requirements of the Club such as reports relating to Special Interest Vehicle records of the Club.

Personal Information will NOT be used for the following purposes:

  • The Club will not sell, communicate or divulge your information to any mailing lists, or disclose personal information about members, for benefit (such as a financial reward).

For the purpose described above, information may be shared with Club’s associated Mercedes-Benz legal entities, either in Australia or overseas. Also, in order to operate the web site or deliver a service, personal information may also be shared with a service provider, being a non-Club or group entity.

Use of Website Tracking Technologies

The Club may use tracking technologies such as cookies or web beacons, to make use of the Club’s website and services as convenient as possible. Cookies are pieces of information that a website transfers to a computer's hard disk for record keeping purposes. Most web browsers are set to accept tracking technologies such as cookies or web beacons. These tracking technologies do not themselves personally identify users, although they do identify a user's browser.

Contact by the Club

The Club may contact individuals using the information which was provided by them, in order to:

  • Provide information that may be of interest about membership, Club events, Club merchandise, their vehicles and other matters that may be of interest.
  • To send newsletters.

Individual's Right of Access

Individuals have the right to review the information that may be recorded on the Club’s database. Information may be reviewed by contacting the Club via the Contact Us page of the Club website.

The Club and Links to Other Websites

The Club may wish to provide links to websites outside of the Club website. These linked sites are not under the control of Club, and the Club is not responsible for the conduct of companies linked to the Club website, nor for the performance or otherwise of any content and/or software contained in such external websites.

Queries relating to the Privacy Policy, or any problems or complaints may be directed to the Secretary via the details on the Contact Us page of the Club website.
